Re: Wishing permission to use money sent for cattle instruments and clothes. Apparently, the sisters had sent money for Samara (Russian city at juncture of Samara River and the Volga; after 1935 known as Kaybyshev). Tolstoy said 1000 pounds had been received from Canadian Dookhobors - so that contribution was taking care of people in Samara ; filed in MS 920 MAE Maertz Cyrus Collection (letters from 1879-1917)
